On behalf of Donia and Rudy Keys, we have created this page to help with future medical expenses for Rudy Keys. We are asking family, friends, and fellow members of our community to help support Donia and Rudy financially, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. July 30th, 2020, both Rudy and Donia Keys’ lives changed forever. Donia Keys’ son, Rudy Keys, was found unresponsive by his mother, and was life flighted to Holy Cross Hospital in Holy Fields, California. Since that day, Rudy has been fighting for his life with no physical family support due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, Doina Keys has had no access to Rudy, she has not heard his voice, has not seen Rudy’s face, or felt the warmth of Rudy’s skin. Since being admitting to the hospital, Rudy has suffered a heart attack, and multiple seizures. Donia receives these types of medical updates by telephone, waiting and praying the next call will be reports of progress, unfortunately these calls have yet to be received. Rudy is a beloved man, he has served his country through the Air Force, served his community by opening up his home to feed the homeless, and low income families, as well as providing free child care, and has served his mother, by being her primary care taker. If anyone knows Donia, whether it be through Blacks in Government, the American Federation of Government Employees, Semper Fidelis, the Red Hatters, Living Stone Cathedral, Sun Village Chambers of Commerce, or any other organization that she has been apart of. Then you have had the privilege to experience her fiery personality, engage in though provoking conversations, hear her amazing life stories, and receive one of a kind emotional love and support, what you have experienced is an overflow of what Rudy has poured into his mother. Rudy has taken care of any and every need of Donia for the past ten years. To the point, Donia did not realize how much Rudy has taken care of her until July 30th, when Rudy began his fight for his life. Rudy was Donia’s front line of defense to this pandemic. He would buy groceries, cook, clean, run errands, and was Donia’s company. Going above and beyond the care a son could give to his mother. During these trying and uncertain times, Donia’s family is asking anyone and everyone who can contribute in any shape or form possible, to do so. As too many of us have come to know, despite our world may seem to fall apart, does not mean the world will stop for us to catch our breath. Any amount, any gesture, any prayers are appreciated.
