On March 11, Donavan Ing was rushed to the emergency room in critical condition and has been in the ICU ever since with Jackie and Greg by his side. What followed has been a life-altering and deeply traumatic medical journey for him and everyone who loves him.
Donavan has suffered a severe head injury and acute kidney failure, requiring dialysis every single day. He has already undergone 5 major surgeries and has needed 27 blood transfusions to stay alive. Doctors have also identified an enlarged liver and heart, adding further complexity to his condition.
He has lost feeling and use of the left side of his body; his hand, leg, and foot, leaving him facing an incredibly difficult road to recovery.
At this time, doctors and specialists are still working tirelessly to determine the exact autoimmune disease affecting him. His body is currently fighting against itself; his white blood cells are attacking his already dangerously low red blood cells, and his body is not producing enough to heal.
Donavan’s journey ahead will be long and challenging; physically, mentally, and emotionally.
How You Can Help
Many friends and family reach out asking how they can support Donavan during this time. As he continues his fight, it is clear he will require specialized medical care, rehabilitation, and essential equipment to help him regain independence and quality of life.
The financial burden is overwhelming.
Donations will help cover:
-Rehabilitation and specialized equipment
- Donavan’s rent, utilities, and essential living expenses while he is unable to work
-Everyday overhead costs as his recovery continues
- Lost income for loved ones taking time off work to be by his side and support him through this critical time
If you are able, any donation; big or small, would mean the world to Donavan, Jackie and Greg. Your support will directly help ease the financial stress so the focus can remain on his healing and recovery.
