My name is Donald, and for many years I served my community as a police officer and coach. On January 29, 2025, my life changed dramatically when I was forced to retire due to a condition called Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy (PDR). This eye condition made it impossible for me to continue working, and I was not prepared for such a sudden transition. For the first six months, I relied on my savings and any other financial resources I had until I received my first pension check. Unfortunately, those savings have now run out, and my application for disability was denied. Because of my eye condition, I am unable to work and have been struggling to keep up with my bills. I am now legally blind in my left eye, which has made daily life even more challenging.
The funds raised here will go directly toward paying my utilities, groceries, and medical bills. I have surgery scheduled in February on my left eye, followed by another on my right, in hopes of restoring some vision and improving my quality of life. These medical expenses, along with everyday living costs, have made it difficult to stay afloat. I am simply asking for a little help to catch up and get back ahead, so I can focus on my recovery and hopefully return to a more stable life.
I was told to stop being too proud to ask for help, so I’m reaching out to my community. Any little bit helps, and I am deeply grateful for any support you can offer. If you’re unable to donate, sharing my story means just as much. Thank you all in advance for your kindness, understanding, and support during this challenging time.
