Help Don with money

Hi my name is Don
so right now I am asking for help with some sort of escape from this horrible disease , a way to forget where I am and enjoy some simple pleasures in life. I believe this will also be very therapeutic, which also brings to mind another healthy activity such as spa treatments, acupuncture, massages and the like that I can’t afford.

I want to see some concerts, travel to Colorado to see my family, drive to Chicago to see relatives and enjoy everything a big city has to offer. Yes, I want to pamper my self with things or activities that I have never had an opportunity to do. I’ve always enjoyed working hard to get the things I have now, such as my home and truck. I enjoyed fixing up my home through out the years, still need to remodel my kitchen tho. Just never had the money for that, but would surely make a difference in my life. Maybe I would tackle that project as well.

I currently have leukemia, specifically cmml that has recently changed to aml (acute) this means the cancer has turned to very aggressive cancer. I have just completed 5 weeks of hospital treatment to bring the cancer into remission. This will buy me maybe 1 or 2 years of time for more treatments and hospital stays. And more importantly is I get to go home, I am so much more comfortable at home and am able to resume my normal activities. I am currently looking for a donor for a stem cell transplant, the last donor was a 70% match and after 6 weeks the cancer came back. So right now I’m in the hospital waiting for a scheduled bone marrow biopsy, which will tell the doctors I am in remission.

 

if I’m in remission I will be on chemo to keep things in check. But I should be able to go home. From here I will be traveling back to the hospital once or twice a week to get platelets, this is a normal response to cancer and usually takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Then it’s back home.

 

if I find a new suitable donor , i will go through a 2 month process for the transplant and hopefully be cured of leukemia for the rest of my life. Unfortunately I happen to have a rare DNA make up so donors are hard to find that match my DNA. We are currently searching on the world wide donor system, so far no one is matching. So we are forced to wait and watch.

 

in the mean time , I am still a relatively normal healthy person, I can walk, cook meals, clean, take care of my cat, drive a car, cut the grass and pretty much do everything I did before leukemia. So with that I would like to go out and enjoy my life with whatever time I have left. I am interested in taking short little vacations nearby, and also to eat at nice restaurants and stay in upscale hotels. 

 

so as you can see I pretty much took care of myself for the last 60 years with little to no help. I had a 30 year career in the plastics industry, starting in the family business, and then moving out of state to further my career in sales and management. Unfortunately I am currently on disability insurance, that only helps with food, housing and utilities.
