My name is Bill, and I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Don for the last 20+ years. What started as a business relationship turned into a lifelong friendship; we’ve celebrated some of the best moments in our lives and consoled each during the worst moments.
For the past 5 years, Don has been battling multiple illnesses, one of which has left him immobile at times. Guillain-Barré syndrome is a condition in which the immune system attacks the nerves, often leading to complete paralysis. Don has lost feeling in his hands and has experienced paralysis of the eyes, resulting in limited eyesight. Treatment for this disease requires physical therapy, supportive care, and costly medications. Most people with the condition must be hospitalized to receive treatment.
Unfortunately, Don is unable to work, and his insurance requires a high deductible to be met upon each admittance for treatment. Additionally, Medicare Part A does not cover the costs associated with the activities required for daily living (i.e. bathing, dressing, using the bathroom, homemaker services, etc.). I've created this GoFundMe page to help Don pay for those basic necessities we all too often take for granted. Any additional funds received will be applied towards the deductible associated with the medications and therapies needed to help Don overcome this terrible disease and live a comfortable life.
