On November 18, I am having hip surgery and will be out of the office for eight weeks, until the new year.

I no longer have disability insurance—at my age, the cost is prohibitive—so this means a total loss of income during that time.

Because my wife Maxima has been unable to work much for the past 2+ years, due to serious illness, we are dependent on my income to sustain us.
