Help Don Recover After Life-Saving Surgery

Hi, my name is Crystal. My brother Don, who I affectionately call “Dodo,” is in a truly emergent situation. He was rushed to the hospital on July 3rd via ambulance and was extremely ill. I was quickly by his side “as fast as I could from states away” and haven’t left since. He was taken to emergency surgery within a short time of arrival. The doctor said he would have passed away if not brought in when he was. Don had to have major intestinal surgery (due to a medical emergency) to save his life, and he is giving it his all and in recovery mode now in the hospital. When he is able to go home, he will have to focus 100% on recovery and self-care. Don pays all of his bills and expenses and has minimal savings that will deplete quickly and he will be unable to go back to work for a long time, possibly months at least, as he had a very physically demanding job and he cannot perform tasks. Fortunately, he is close with his employer and will have a job when he gets healthy again. At this time, the little money he has is not enough to take care of his day-to-day living in addition to needed medical items, rent, food, transportation to doctor appointments, and daily life. And that is not even considering the staggering medical bills. We (my husband and I) are helping as much as we can, but we are using our resources for me being here with him in another state, far away from home. I am asking for help for my brother to be able to go home (when he can) and live daily life while he recovers from this terrible situation. Don is one of the most humble and giving people that I know. He would give anyone his own shirt and be cold himself, type of person. And he was (when we were kids) and still is one of my best friends in life. I guess that is inevitable when we are only 11 months apart in age. And now, he needs help now. So I am doing the best I know how and desperately asking others if they will help out of kindness in this trying time.
