Hi, my name is Allyssa. I am fundraising for my dad Don, to be able to purchase an electric scooter.

Don has severe type 2 diabetes that has spread to a range of other complications such as neuropathy in his hands, lower legs, and feet causing tingling, numbness, and pain. He also suffers from diabetic retinopathy which causes damage to the retina and creates light sensitivity to the eye. Battling these conditions has made it difficult for Don to be mobile.

If you know Don, you would know that he is one of the most selfless person in the world. He is strong, caring, compassionate, and independent. Since being forced into retirement - Don has found a new love for the outdoors and spending time with our dog Bella. He wishes to be able to take Bella for walks around the block, or go to the corner store for groceries but due to his health conditions he is no longer able to drive or walk farther then half a block - he loved driving.

With the struggles of mobility these past few years, it has depleted his independence which has taken a toll on his mental health and well-being. We are hoping to raise $5000 to purchase an electric scooter for Don. We kindly ask for donations and any left over funds will be donated to Diabetes Canada research.
