Help Don Boggs with End of Life Care and Costs
Don Boggs--beloved father, grandpa, son, brother, friend, coworker, coach, principal, and so much more--has been in critical care at Greenville Memorial Hospital for over two weeks now. Don went in on Friday, May 14th, 2021 to have a procedure that would remove his esophageal cancer, which he was recently diagnosed with. Following this surgery, he was well on his way to recovery with praise from his doctors when he went into complete heart block on his tenth day in the hospital. This complete heart block was the result of an undiagnosed heart condition discovered during his recovery after the initial esophageal surgery. Due to this condition, he is having a permanent pacemaker put in next week.

When our dad coded on Monday, May 24th, we were worried he would not make it. Luckily, with the dedication of his doctors and his own fighting spirit, a heartbeat was able to be found once again. With major health-related setbacks and feelings of defeat, our dad’s last concern should be the impending medical bills he will face once he is able to head home. This is where your generosity comes in.
With your thoughts, prayers and kind donations, we will be able to help financially support our retired father during his long recovery. Because Don is still in the hospital and we are still receiving bills, we do not know what the total cost will come to. However, we do expect him to have tens of thousands of dollars worth of medical bills from spending 12 days and counting in the cardiovascular ICU and 4 days on the floor in the hospital, totaling 16+ days in the hospital. Additionally, his medical bills will include the cost of his 6+ hour esophageal surgery, the temporary pacemaker he needed when he coded, and the permanent pacemaker they will be putting in next week, as well as the many different procedures, tests, scans, etc. he has had to have done during this process.

Papa Don is tasked with providing financial support and stability for many in his family, and with his unexpected, extended stay in the hospital and ICU, Don’s financial stress has reached an all time high. As a family, we are pulling together to support our dad during this time, but we desperately need the love and support of a larger community to get through this.
We, as Don’s kids, are asking for your support in any way that you are able to extend it. We welcome any form of your generosity as we enter into the recovery process with our dad. Your donation will allow your beloved friend, coach, principal, coworker, and neighbor to focus on his health during a time that has brought on unexpected financial strain.
If you have any questions about Don’s recovery or should need any additional information as to how your donation helps, please feel free to contact his daughter Kelly through this GoFundMe.

My family thanks you for your kindness, your support, your generosity, your prayers, and your willingness to share this cause with friends and family.
