Hello folks. I'm Don "Pete" Whiteside. I am one of Don Anderson's closest friends. I've been his friend since we met in Durant when I moved there in late 1972. My dad got transferred for work to Durant so I wound up going to Middle School a couple of years there. I met Don in Mrs. Tommy's art class if I remember correctly.
We have been friends for 53 years. That is an enduring friendship.
I put this GOFUNDME together for Don because of a serious tragedy that happened on May 22. Don's house burned yesterday. That in itself is awful, but his father-in-law, who was an invalid and living with them, as well as one small dog, perished in that fire.
To make matters worse, Don had no home insurance! He had been working with the insurer, but had not gotten coverage before this happened.
The pandemic was tough on his family as well. Both of them had to run through quite a bit of their personal retirement savings when they were unable to work.
That's enough to make you cry, but Pam's health has been for many years, and still is, so bad, that she is often unable to work, and when she can work, sometimes has to miss work due to a chronic condition. That leads to job hopping to help keep the lights on--literally.
Don and his wife Pam, are now in dire straights. It's awful. So, I'm asking all of you to take time to read this and maybe reach into your pocket for a donation. Maybe you can spare $5 or $10. Or maybe more if you can or want to. I know he would appreciate it.
The thing is...Don would never ask for it himself. But he sure needs it. And as his friend, I will do what I can to help.
Thank you in advance for your kindness towards Don and his wife. They are hurting right now, but are in shock. I'm not sure he knows how to proceed. But GOFUNDME will help him if you help him by donating.
Thanks again.
