Help Dolores Beat Rectal Cancer
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Bernadette, and I am fundraising on behalf of my mother, Dolores Nuncio, who is starting 2022 with a new diagnosis of Stage IIIB Rectal Cancer. My mom is months away from her 63rd birthday and is looking forward to retiring in two years and spending more time with her five children and fourteen grandchildren. Unfortunately, her recent diagnosis of rectal cancer threatens her future.
On December 31, 2021, while everyone was partaking in the annual tradition of closing out the calendar year and purging the pain, setbacks, and sadness from the previous 364 days, my mom laid in an ER bed sulking in the reality that her "pain" was joining her in 2022. My mom is a tough, hardworking woman. I would go as far as calling her unstoppable, but on New Year's Eve, the pain in her stomach was too much to bear. A CT scan uncovered a large mass, and there was no disputing that it was malignant.
My mom spent half of January in the hospital as the doctors performed tests, procedures, and surgery for a colostomy. The rest of 2022 will be no different. As she preps for her first round of treatment, six months of chemotherapy, my mom can't help but worry about the financial burden she faces. At this time, she cannot work and has exhausted all of her sick and vacation time. Thankfully, she has medical insurance, but her medical insurance will lapse if she fails to pay her monthly premium. On top of her insurance premium, the financial costs include medical bills for tests, procedures, treatments, medications, medical supplies, everyday living expenses, and more.
As you can imagine, my family and I are emotionally struggling with our mother's battle with rectal cancer. Less than two years ago, we unexpectedly lost our dad to a heart attack. Sadly, we still struggle because we didn't get a chance to fight for his life. So we plan on fighting extra hard for our mom because we do not want to lose her too.
My mom, my family and I want to thank you in advance for helping us in our fight.
Please check back regularly for updates. This is still new to us, and we obtain more information each day.
