Hola a tod@s! Mi nombre es Nadja Ibarra, soy originaria de Puerto Escondido y soy una rescatista independiente de perr@s y gat@s.

Desde pequeña he rescatado animales, mi sueño de niña era estudiar veterinaria porque quería poder tener la habilidad de ayudar y curar a todos los animales. Finalmente estudié Diseño Gráfico, pero mi amor y sensibilidad por los animales siempre se mantuvo, por lo que desde hace 3 años empecé a rescatar y rehabilitar perros para posteriormente ponerlos en adopción responsable.

Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, México, es una pequeña/mediana localidad ubicada en el Sur de la costa del Estado de Oaxaca. Tiene 2 municipios principales que son San Pedro Mixtepec y Santa María Colotepec, y muchas comunidades al rededor.

Como muchos sabemos, Oaxaca es uno de los estados más pobres en educación de todo México, y eso se ve reflejado en la falta de información, empatía, amor y responsabilidad por los animales domésticos, y a pesar de tener Leyes aprobadas en el estado que "protegen" y "castigan" el maltrato animal, ha sido difícil conseguir ponerlas en práctica en ambos municipios. De igual manera, no existe un apoyo económico por parte de las cabezas municipales para poder controlar la sobre población de animales domésticos (perros y gatos).

Muchos turistas que vienen a visitar este bello lugar, se dan cuenta de la cantidad de perros callejeros que hay, y han llegado a pensar que es un paraíso para ellos, pues los ven "sanos" caminando felices por la playa, o en las calles, saludando y recibiendo afecto de ellos, pero la realidad es que tenemos un problema muy grave detrás de las zonas turísticas, una sobre población descontrolada de animales que viven en condiciones muy miserables: hambrientos, enfermos, maltratados, abusados, con una mirada triste solamente esperando su muerte, o esperando que un milagro ocurra y pueda cambiarles la vida.

En cada zona encuentras perros enfermos con TVT (Tumor Venero Transmisible) el cual es un cáncer que se contagia por medio de transmisión sexual

Perras hembras preñadas o con cachorros enfermos, infestados de pulgas y garrapatas, y mayormente los cachorros terminan enfermándose de Parvovirus o Moquillo (distemper, una enfermedad horrible que ataca el sistema nervioso central) y mueren, esto debido a que tampoco existe la cultura de vacunarlos.

También padecen de Herliquiosis (esto es una infección en la sangre derivado de una picadura de garrapata) o Gusano de corazón. En el caso de los felinos, es muy común encontrar gatos enfermos de Leucemia felina o SIDA, esto también producto de la falta de vacunación. Puerto Escondido presenta también tiene una sobre población desmedida de gatos, los cuales están poniendo en riesgo la flora y fauna de la localidad.

Existen alrededor de 5 refugios de perros en la localidad, los cuales como podrán imaginarse, siempre están muy saturados, debido a que es muy difícil colocar perros en adopción responsable, por lo que es muy complicado para los refugios recibir más animales en situaciones de emergencia.

Uno de estos refugios es ARCA (Alejandra Rescatando Callejeros Abandonados) y es el refugio para el cual yo colaboro y ayudo en mis posibilidades. ARCA le pertenece a una increíble mujer incondicional llamada Alejandra López Agustin quien lleva más de 10 años rescatando a muchísimos perros y gatos, y ha trabajado muy duro para poder colocar a los animales en hogares increíbles. Actualmente tiene un total de 60 perros a su cargo por lo que siempre tiene mucha necesidad económica.

Los rescatistas independientes estamos también invariablemente saturados, y muy cansados pues las emergencias y casos de maltrato extremo son el pan de cada día en nuestra localidad, y generalmente tenemos que sacar adelante a los animales con nuestros propios recursos y los donativos que nos llegan de nuestras amistades o personas que apoyan la labor.

La única manera de solucionar esta gran problemática es la esterilización temprana. Por lo que, ARCA refugio y yo nos vemos en la necesidad de recaudar fondos de manera urgente e independiente para poder realizar campañas de esterilización masivas para perros y gatos bimensualmente en ambos municipios de Puerto Escondido. Queremos entrar a las colonias más marginadas, donde la gente no tiene acceso a la información ni a esterilización de sus mascotas por bajo costo.

Nuestro plan es iniciar realizando un total de 240 cirugías, divididas entre 4 días de campaña, es decir, 60 cirugías por día en 4 colonias diferentes. Hemos contactado a 2 veterinarias muy profesionales de la Ciudad de México, para asegurarnos que los animales sean esterilizados con una cirugía segura y confiable.

El costo que nos dan de cada cirugía es de $350 pesos mexicanos incluyendo los materiales. Nosotros cobraremos a las personas una cuota de recuperación de $200 pesos mexicanos por cada animal que lleven a esterilizar, esto con el fin de poder recuperar poco más de la mitad del costo, así la próxima recaudación sea menor hasta que podamos auto solventar la campaña, o mejor aún, lograr hacer más cirugías bimensualmente. La meta es abarcar todas las colonias de ambos municipios, y poder llegar a comunidades cercanas donde tampoco tienen alternativas para esterilizar, y su única solución es retirar a los cachorros recién nacidos y abandonarlos lejos de la mamá.

Si logramos pasar la meta, invertiríamos en un lote de 50 vacunas para poder aplicarlas a los más vulnerables (cachorros). Cada una tiene un costo de $100 pesos mexicanos precio mayoreo, y también invertiríamos en un lote de Nextgard (pastilla para control de pulgas y garrapatas y prevención de gusano de corazón) las cuales tienen un costo de $215 cada una y una sola puede funcionar hasta para 3 perros.

La meta final incluyendo los vuelos de las veterinarias da un total de $5,000 USD. Hemos decidido recaudar un 80% del total a través de esta plataforma, y el otro 20% será en una cuenta bancaria mexicana, para las personas que se encuentren en México y no cuenten con tarjeta de crédito para donar por este medio, puedan hacerlo a través de transferencia bancaria.

Al finalizar la recaudación mostraremos los estados de cuenta para que todo sea totalmente transparente, y puedan ver cuánto logramos recibir en la cuenta mexicana que estará a mi nombre.

Nuestro objetivo es poder iniciar el primer día de campaña el 8 de Junio del presente año, por lo que suplicamos y esperamos poder contar con su apoyo económico para lograr esta gran iniciativa.

Recordemos que la esterilización es la única solución para prevenir toda la problemática que tenemos.

Finally I studied Graphic Design, but my love and sensitivity for animals has always remained, so 3 years ago I started rescuing and rehabilitating dogs to later put them up for responsible adoption.

Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico, is a small/medium-sized town located on the southern coast of the State of Oaxaca. It has 2 main municipalities that are San Pedro Mixtepec and Santa María Colotepec, and many surrounding communities. As many of us know, Oaxaca is one of the poorest states in terms of education in all of Mexico, and this is reflected in the lack of information, empathy, love and responsibility for domestic animals, and despite having laws approved in the state that "protect" and "punish" animal abuse, it has been difficult to put them into practice in both municipalities. Also, there is no economic support from the municipal heads to control the overpopulation of domestic animals (dogs and cats).

Many tourists who come to visit this beautiful place realize how many stray dogs there are, and have come to think that it is a paradise for them, as they see them "healthy" walking happily on the beach or in the streets, greeting and receiving affection from them, but the reality is that we have a very serious problem behind the tourist areas, an uncontrolled population of animals that live in very miserable conditions: starving, sick, mistreated, abused, with a very sad look waiting for their death, or waiting for a miracle to happen and change their lives.

In each area you find sick dogs with TVT (Transmissible Tumor) which is a cancer that is transmitted through sexual transmission

Pregnant female dogs or with sick puppies, infested with fleas and ticks, and mostly the puppies end up getting sick from Parvovirus or Distemper (a horrible disease that attacks the central nervous system) and die, this because there is no culture to vaccinate them.

They also suffer from Herlichiosis (this is a blood infection derived from a tick bite) or Heart worm. In the case of cats, it is very common to find sick cats with feline leukemia or AIDS, this is also a product of a lack of vaccination. Puerto Escondido also presents an excessive population of cats, which are putting the flora and fauna of the town at risk.

There are around 5 dog shelters in the town, which, as you can imagine, are always very saturated, because it is very hard to place dogs for responsible adoption, making it very difficult for shelters to receive more animals in emergency situations.

One of these shelters is ARCA (Alejandra Rescatando Callejeros Abandonados) and it is the shelter for which I collaborate and help my possibilities. ARCA belongs to an incredible unconditional woman named Alejandra López Agustin who has been rescuing many dogs and cats for more than 10 years, and has worked very hard to place the animals in incredible homes. She currently has a total of 60 dogs under her care, so he is always in huge financial need.

Independent rescuers are also invariably saturated, and very tired because emergencies and cases of extreme abuse are the daily bread in our town, and generally we have to support the animals with our own resources and the donations that come to us from our friends or people who support the work.

The only way to solve this great problem is early sterilization. Therefore, ARCA shelter and I find ourselves in the need to urgently and independently raise funds to be able to carry out massive sterilization campaigns for dogs and cats every two months in both municipalities of Puerto Escondido. We want to enter the most marginalized neighborhoods, where people do not have access to information or low-cost sterilization of their pets.

Our plan is to start performing a total of 240 surgeries, divided between 4 campaign days, that is, 60 surgeries per day in 4 different suburbs. We have contacted 2 very professional veterinarians from Mexico City, to make sure that the animals are sterilized with a safe and reliable surgery.

The cost they give us for each surgery is $350 mexican pesos (21 USD) including materials. We will charge people a recovery fee of $200 (11 USD) for each animal they take to be sterilized, this in order to be able to recover a little more than half the cost, even if the next collection is less until we can self-finance the campaign, or better still, manage to do more surgeries bimonthly. The goal is to cover all the colonies of both municipalities, and to be able to reach nearby communities where they also have no alternatives to sterilize, and their only solution is to remove the newborn puppies and abandon them far from the mother.

If we manage to surpass the goal, we would invest in a batch of 50 vaccines to be able to apply them to the most vulnerable (puppies). Each one has a cost of $100 mexican pesos (5.5 USD) wholesale price, and we would also invest in a lot of Nextgard (pill for flea and tick control and heart worm prevention) which have a cost of $215 each and a single one can work for up to 3 dogs.

The final goal including the flights from the veterinarians gives a total of $5,000 USD. We have decided to collect 80% of the total through this platform, and the other 20% will be in a Mexican bank account. For people who are in Mexico and do not have a credit card to donate by this means, they can do so at through bank transfer.

At the end of the collection we will show the account statements so that everything is totally transparent, and you can see how much we managed to receive in the Mexican account that will be in my name.

Our goal is to be able to start the first day of the campaign on June 8 of this year, for which we beg and hope to be able to count with your financial support to achieve this great initiative.

Let's remember that sterilization is the only solution to prevent all the problems we have.
