IZZY Update 1/12/2024:
Izzy was seen by the vet again today and is now UTD on his vaccinations. He's also up 8lbs and is looking/feeling much better than he was when we found him on 1/2/2024. Unfortunately, he's heartworm positive so the next step in saving his life is treating that ASAP. The cost is between $500-1000 and we only have a little over $400 left over from our GFM, so we're hoping to raise a bit more to help this guy out.
We're also in search of a new foster or forever home! If you or anyone you know can help out, please let us know. FYI: Izzy is a puppy, between 6-9 months old. He's also had a rough start at life, so he's a bit of a scavenger, looking to get into everything, considering he's likely had to rely on only himself for his next meal, etc. He needs a calm, patient, loving home. An ideal match would be someone who WFH or isn't gone for long periods of time, does not have young children and possibly has an older, well mannered, dog, to help teach him how to dog. He would also be fine as the only dog in the home. He will require training (someone has already offered their services, if interested). He's shown interest in dogs but has not been dog or cat tested. We're NOT a rescue, just some dog loving people who found this poor puppy and couldn't let him die. Therefore, we appreciate any advice, donations, help, shares. etc. you can offer.
(P)UPDATE 1/3/2024:
"Dog Doe", now named Izzy, settled into his foster/adopter home last night and enjoyed a long, cozy night of sleep (without any accidents!). He had his initial vet visit today (1/3). He's only 32 pounds and estimated to be between 6-12 months old. He's extremely malnourished and heart worm positive. The vet put together a treatment plan, that involves both oral and topical medications, as well as follow-up appointments and possible x-rays. The bill for the 1/3 appointment was over $900, which we've covered, thanks to everyone's generosity!! We've also covered $170 in puppy food, vitamins/supplements, treats etc. sent via Amazon to his current home. However, his 1st follow-up is next week, and he has a long road to recovery ahead. Therefore, we've increased our funding goal with the hopes we can cover all necessary vet costs for sweet Izzy. Please continue to share and donate if you are able.
Thank you ALL for helping to give Izzy a 2nd chance at a good life!
BACKGROUND 1/2/2024:
This puppy joined my friend as she was walking her dogs in the Crafton area this morning. She took him home with her, to keep him safe and warm, but already having 3 dogs of her own, was unable to keep him.
Through the magic of sharing on social media we were able to find a foster/adopter home for this poor pup, with someone who has breed specific experience and a big heart! I personally took "Dog Doe" to his current home to ensure it was a good fit, and feel confident he's with someone who will give him a great home and lots of love and care on his road to recovery.
Since so many have commented or messaged about their willingness to pitch in towards vetting and initial essentials for "Dog Doe" we've created this Go Fund Me. We will distribute the funds raised directly to the veterinarian to pay the pup's bill(s) and then give the remaining amount to the new owner (or foster, if the potential owner does not work out) for the new dog essentials they'll need. Please feel free to share and thank you all SO MUCH for your concern and generosity! It's thanks to people like you that this dog is getting a second chance at life. ❤️
