Fight for what is right and you win! And we want your help to document our fight. From October of 2024 to May of 2025 the National Union of Healthcare Workers, NUHW took to the picket lines and took on the executives of healthcare giant, Kaiser Permanente (the largest HMO in the United States). Patients, staff and the community were in support to make a change in the mental health care system. From the start we were stonewalled at the bargaining table, unfair delays and tactics were used, and even our food donations for picketing members were blocked. Ignored by the executive bargaining reps our members had to make their voices heard with chants, demonstrations, silent protests, sit-ins ( being arrested) and even a hunger strike! But with the help of the patients we serve, our fellow unions, Delores Huerta, California politicians, Clergy and Laity United, and others, a contract was won! This historic strike happened within the back drop of a mental health crisis, attacks on unions and workers, as well as a pivotal national election, and devastating fires in California. Help us make this documentary a reality to be able to share the workers struggle and the fight for mental health care in this country.
