Help Dmo get surgery
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Diarmuid. Like many trans people all over the world I have no access to publicly funded trans healthcare.
Healthcare should be a right enjoyed by all trans people. In Ireland and in the UK I have faced administrative and psychiatric barriers to healthcare that leave me only two options: wait years for treatment while navigating a medical and psychiatric culture that routinely dehumanises trans patients, or seek treatment privately.
I want to ask you to help me raise money for top surgery. Anything you can donate will help me get closer to my goal of having this surgery this year.
I’ve spent three years on HRT and at this point I pass as a man in all other areas of my life, so with your support I could take this final step and no longer have to live in discomfort trying to hide my chest daily.
Like most trans people, who face high unemployment rates and workplace discrimination, I am low-income. Anything you can give would help. My goal is €8500, which will cover the cost of surgery with Dr Ken Stewart in Scotland, the cost of the consultation and psychologist appointments needed to get referral letters, plus the costs associated with travelling and staying there.
I am currently on the waiting list for a surgery date with Dr Stewart and am hoping to get a date sometime this summer, from June onwards.
I cannot lose any more years to dysphoria and pain from hunching over and binding. I want to be happy in my body! I am a gorgeous little gayguy and it’s very important that i can wear a gay little shirt.
Testimonials from my friends!
"Diarmuid, who I've lovingly nicknamed D-mo, has been such a consistent positive joy in my life. From genuinely saving my partner and I from homelessness, to introducing me to affordable hormone replacement therapy, to being a constant source of help and encouragement in my own transition, I wouldn't be the person I am today without having met him a year ago!
How this country handles its trans citizens is abhorrent, and none of these positive attributes D-mo has should have any input on his right to gender affirming surgeries, but the fact that he's one of the sweetest and most selfless people I know, only makes it worse that he's had to fund this himself. D-mo is unlike anyone I've ever met, and he deserves your help to change his life for the better." - my beautiful housemate Robyn
"diarmuid, otherwise known as the silliest goose of them all, is our kind and caring buddy who deserves to live his best possible life, and with the help and generosity of others, that can be achieved. our favourite bookworm from the lands of kerry, its a pleasure to know and be friends with dmo. he's a friend to rely on and wont hesitate to help, and now we want to help him" - my gorgey coworker Lauren
"I've known dmo for a year now and he's a great guy. I would like to see him get his surgery so he can be himself. Wether he's dressed like a kpop star going through an airport or being a silly goose he's my friend and I want him to be happy." - my luvly coworker Michael
"Worlds gayest gay is about to get a whole lot gayer!" - my boy best friend Niall
