On February 5th 2026, Dmitrii Chzhao was arrested by ICE while on his way to work.

Dmitrii is just a young Software Engineer working to support his mother and sister, while navigating the frequent changes to immigration policy in recent months.

Dmitrii has no criminal history, and did not break any laws. He has valid work authorization, passed his immigration interview, and was legally waiting for his Green Card when he was detained by ICE. He showed his documents to the officer, but they were ignored and he was taken into custody.

Dmitrii is now being held at South Florida Detention Facility (Alcatraz) under harsh conditions. The court has set a $40,000 bond for his release. This is an overwhelming amount for our family.
