Dmitri St. Jarre is a 22 year old Madawaska native, he graduated from Madawaska High School in 2016 and is currently attending Husson University. Dmitri is pursuing his Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. Even though his major is criminal justice, he loves history! He also enjoys being outdoors, traveling, and gaming. Dmitri is an Honor Roll student and works as a Resident Assistant, providing peer support and role modeling for other Husson students. He is also part of the University of Maine Army ROTC. During his time in the ROTC, CDT St. Jarre attended basic camp at Fort Knox in 2019 and enlisted in The Maine National Guard's 120th Regional Support Group as an SMP after receiving a Minuteman Scholarship. He was due to be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant for the ROTC and graduate from his Master's Program in May, however, Dmitris life turned upside down when he discovered that a lump in his neck is cancer. At this time, support for Dmitri is needed, he may need to shift his focus from academics to his health as this is just the start of a rough ride.
Dmitri had a biopsy done on the lump on his neck which is located about 2 inches below his left ear. The results showed that it is a malignant tumor known as a synovial sarcoma. He is going to be having treatments done at Massachusetts General Hospital. This includes multiple visits starting the first week of April to get a port. After that he will have five weeks straight of radiation treatments starting in May. Followed by a surgery to remove the remainder of the malignant tumor. Covid-19 protocals and restrictions are causing problems with obtaining free medical lodging. Places like Ronald McDonald House are not accepting new patients because of the virus. We forsee a lot of expenses outside of just medical services, including travel and lodging expenses.
Dmitri is the son of Jennifer Bragdon Savoie and Kevin St. Jarre, brother to Sophia and Laura St. Jarre.
Dmitri is a go-getter and an overall wonderful person. Let's show him as much love and support that we can during his difficult time!
