Help DJ Session Heal and Support His Family
Donation protected
DJ Session is a loyal, funny, hardworking, family man, and welcomed his first child, a beautiful baby girl just 8 weeks ago.
Life as he and his family knew it was changed forever on the night of Sunday, July 21 when a drunk driver ran a stop light at 63rd & Prospect near Swope Park. His cousin, the driver, immediately swerved to avoid a head-on collision. Unfortunately, the other car was going at such a high speed that their car was still hit from the back, sending their car spinning and slamming into a pole primarily on the passenger side, where DJ was sitting. The car was completely totaled.
See a video of the totaled car damage in this Facebook post by his cousin.
Luckily, the accident occurred close to Research Medical Center where he was taken immediately by ambulance to be admitted and treated by a trauma team in the ICU.
His injuries include:
- Broken ribs on left side
- Gash through right calf muscle
- Broken and dislocated right arm
- Two fractured vertebrae in lumbar spine
- Fractured vertebrae at the base of his skull
- Cracked sternum
- Separated hip
- Bruised heart
- Bruised Bowels
- Gash on left kidney
- Blood and air trapped behind chest cavity
Tuesday, after his surgery to repair his broken arm, he was stable and moved out of ICU.
However, on Wednesday night he was admitted back into the ICU due to an elevated heart rate. As of the afternoon of Thursday, July 25, he is still tachycardic and is being closely monitored.

We are all incredibly grateful to his treatment team at Research Medical Center for taking great care of his initial injuries and keeping him in stable condition to further his recovery.
His colleagues at Levy located at the CPKC Stadium with the KC Current are creating this GoFundMe on his and his family's behalf to support him during this incredibly stressful time as he is still in the ICU and will have months of recovery and physical therapy. With a new baby and mom, his longtime girlfriend Montaque Tucker, still on maternity leave, DJ was the sole breadwinner for his family, creating an added hardship on day-to-day living expenses. We are working with her and his family to do what we can to share with our network of friends, family, and colleagues to aid in fundraising efforts to support him and his family to get through this life-altering experience.
Any amount of donation, or even just a share to your own social networks, would be greatly appreciated by all of us, and certainly his family. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
