My name is Shannon and I am fundraising on behalf of two year old D.J. and his family.
Daveon Junior (D.J.) was born in October 2019 and sustained a birth injury called Brachial Plexus. This means that DJ is unable to use his right hand and fingers. DJ had been doing physiotherapy until the pandemic hit in March 2020 and has since been using a TENS machine. However, this will not be enough to correct the problem.
D.J. can get surgery to correct the problem, but doctors are not sure if the surgery will give him full mobility, so he may need more than one surgery.
Unfortunately, this surgery cannot be performed by doctors in Jamaica, where DJ lives, so the only choice his parents have is to take him overseas.
So far, estimates for the cost of surgery in the United States are between $49 000 - $54 000 USD. Currently, D.J.’s parents are seeking out lower cost options available in Canada. However, the cost of the surgery is not the only expense that the family will incur. There will be bills for the visas to travel, flights, accommodations, food and more.
D.J.’s parents urgently need this money, so they can schedule the surgery. The bills for the surgery must be paid upfront, so without having the funds, the surgery cannot even be booked.
Please consider making a donation to help D.J. gain the use of his hand and fingers. D.J. deserves to have a normal childhood, free from pain and suffering. Any donation amount is greatly appreciated! Let’s get this little man living his best life!
