This is Dizzy.
She just turned 10 and we celebrated big. I got her when I was 19 and bottle-fed her as a kitten. She’s been with me through everything—every version of who I’ve been in the past decade. She’s calm, sassy, and louder than any cat her size has a right to be. She’s my best friend.
Dizzy has already underwent two surgeries- one for a tumor removal and the second, a full bilateral mastectomy- we removed everything because the cancer had came back.
Today, Dizzy and I made the hour-long trip to Carolina Veterinary Specialists for her first oncology appointment. She screamed the entire ride like I was personally driving her to the gallows. Then we got there, and she calmly sat her fuzzy little butt on the exam table and waited like, “I’m ready for my physician now.”
We met with Dr. Burr, a board-certified veterinary oncologist. She sat down with me and walked through the treatment plan and the financials. no rush, no sugarcoating. Just empathy and clarity. And honestly? After the months I’ve had, that kind of grace meant more than words.
Here’s the good news:
Dizzy’s abdominal ultrasound came back completely normal.
No visible spread. No internal concerns. That alone is a miracle, and it gives her a real chance to keep living her life like the tiny, loud queen she is. Dr. Burr recommended Dizzy undergo chemotherapy- chemo will Target the microscopic cancer cells that we can't see.
Today was her first round of chemotherapy. She’ll need four more treatments, spaced three weeks apart. Each one includes blood work, kidney monitoring, and chemo administration. The cost of today’s visit (with the ultrasound included) will be around $1,200. Each of the remaining visits will be around $620, for a total of roughly $3,700 to complete her treatment.
I want to give her the best shot at more time—more love, more comfort, more nights curled up beside me.
If you can help us finish this, thank you.
If you can share this, thank you.
If you’ve been here before, I hope you know how much it’s meant to both of us. ❤️
We’re not giving up.
Not now.
