Dixon is a 12-year-old dog who was abandoned by his owner, a neighbor who lives behind me. Normally, Dixon would bark for a short time and then be let inside, but recently, neighbors noticed he had been barking for much longer than usual. When I got home and heard his cries, I asked around and learned he had been left outside for hours, even as the temperature was dropping into the 30s. I felt a strong urge—maybe even a sign from above—to check on him and his owner, who lives alone. When no one answered the door, I became worried for her safety and called the non-emergency number. Authorities arrived and allowed me to take Dixon into my car to warm him up while they tried to reach the resident or her family. We waited for three hours, but no one returned. Eventually, I was able to bring Dixon home for the night to keep him safe and warm. The next day, the officer checked again, but still no answer. Later, I learned that Dixon's owner had left him at a dog facility for three weeks and told them she didn't want him back. It became clear that Dixon would not be returning to his previous home, so I made the decision to care for him myself. I want to give Dixon the love and security he deserves, but I need help to cover his overdue shots, food, and regular vet visits. His shots are due soon, and I am still paying off medical bills from my previous dog, Gracie, who passed away. Asking for help is not easy for me, but I want to do everything I can for Dixon. If you love dogs or know me, you know I will give this sweet senior dog a good life. Any support you can offer will make a difference for Dixon and help me provide the care he needs. Please help me help him!
