Hi family and friends. This is Jack Tolentino and I have set up this GoFundMe account for my mom, Dixie Labayog Bernardo. My mom was diagnosed with 2 types of blood cancers on March 13, 2024. She had already been on her fourth year of recovery from cervical cancer, which made this new diagnosis really difficult to hear. However, she chose to keep a positive mindset as she knew she had gotten through it once and believes she can do it again. My mom always relies on her faith in God and finds strength from her family and friends, and especially from her husband Ron. That is how my mom has always been, finding the positive in every situation. So as if things weren’t challenging enough, they received more difficult news. Ron had started having stomach issues and loss of appetite, which we initially attributed to stress from my mom’s recent diagnosis. But with the sudden substantial weight loss, increased loss of appetite and now lethargy, my mom convinced him to at least get checked. Long story short, he was admitted immediately and after a week in the hospital, Ron was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer on April 19, 2024. Through this devastating time, my mom and Ron stayed by each other’s side and did what they could to help each other. But unfortunately Ron’s health declined quickly and less than a month later, Ron passed away with my mom by his side on May 17, 2024. Pancreatic cancer is a very painful cancer so we are trying to find peace in knowing that he is no longer in pain.
So on behalf of my mom, I am reaching out for any financial assistance to help her maneuver through this difficult time. Everything happened so unexpectedly with both their diagnoses and then his quick passing. Any monetary amount will be greatly appreciated to help alleviate the costs incurred with funeral expenses and for her future medical expenses. She has barely started going through her own treatment process where they are currently making adjustments to her chemo pill dosages. This means more future oncology visits and transportation costs as she does not drive. Again, any donation amount will be very helpful to her and if you are not able to give, we understand but ask that you please keep her in prayer. Thank you for your love, support and prayers.
