Help Dixie Beat Pneumonia
Donation protected
This is Dixie. She is a 7 year old pug/beagle mix who loves nothing more than to snuggle up on the couch with her favorite humans.
Over the past few days, we noticed a sharp decline in her overall health. She was barely drinking or eating, and threw up what little she did eat. She would often cough and sniffle and had no energy to even get up out of bed. The only way to get her to drink was to pipette water into her cheek, one milliliter at a time.
We brought her to the vet the morning of 1/27/2024, and she was diagnosed with pneumonia. We were given antibiotics, but she was too sick to even drink water, let alone swallow medication. She has now been admitted to an emergency veterinary hospital to be monitored and given IV fluids and antibiotics. She has lost almost a third of her body weight and has refused all food for over 24 hours, and she needs nutrition directly administered to her.
Her initial vet visit was over $800, and the hospital treatment plan could be up to $4,418.12, depending on how much care she will need.
Pneumonia in dogs needs to be closely monitored, as it can quickly take a turn for the worse. The bill is much higher than anticipated, and we just want our lovable pup to come home safe and sound and healthy. Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help us offset the financial burden. Your support will help us stay afloat while getting Dixie the care she needs.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and we will provide any health updates as we get them.
