Help Displaced Gazans Obtain Survival Needs
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Nora Salem, I am a settler in so-called Edmonton, Canada and I've been running a mutual aid campaign with my uncle Moustafa Darwish in Gaza for the last 11 months. What began as a Ramadan endeavour to get financial assistance to Gazan families so that they could afford iftar meals, has turned into a campaign of helping them survive the atrocities on the ground until we see a liberated Palestine inshallah.
To date, our mutual aid campaign has raised almost $26,000 and helped 287 families from Rafah to Deir Al-Balah afford the basic necessities needed to survive.
My uncle and our relatives have been displaced numerous times but they are fortunate enough to have been able to go back to the rubble of their home in Khan Younis. They have cleaned it and used tarps to rebuild it to a state where they can shelter in it.
Fortunately, my uncle is a retired public servant so he continues to receive a portion of his retirement fund which helps him and our family afford their basic needs. Unlike many others who have no shelter and no source of income to buy the survival supplies necessary. This campaign is for them.
Here are some of the current costs of survival supplies on the ground for an idea of how your donations will be used:
- Tents range from 1,800 to 2,000 shekels or $670-745 CAD
- A single day's worth of food for an entire family, on average, is about 200 shekels or $75 CAD
- A pack of diapers 160-200 shekels or $60-$75 CAD
- Baby formula/milk 18-25 shekels or $7-10 CAD
All funds raised through this campaign will help displaced families secure the basic needs they're struggling to afford.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping the people of Gaza survive so that they may live to see their sovereignty and their land returned to them.
