Hi,

My name is Anjana Sousa, and I am raising funds for Nepali families who have been affected by the devastating floods in Nepal. On August 26,2026, a huge mass of rock and ice sheared free from a mountain, sliding 1,200 meters to the valley floor in the Lhende Khola valley, about 60km north of Kathmandu. Mud, water, and debris swept through the valley at speeds of 150 km/hr, demolishing everything in it's path. People have lost their homes, their belongings, and, tragically, family members. Entire villages have been wiped out and many people have had to relocate because they have no homes to return to.

Nepal holds a very special place in my heart. I was adopted from Nepal when I was 18 months old, and I have been fortunate to return many times over the years. My family, who lives in Kathmandu are waiting anxiously to hear if a relative survived the flood. They are also supporting families in need that are relocating to Kathmandu. I have seen the beauty of the country, the warmth of its people, and the incredible strength of its communities.

I also witnessed the impact of the 2015 earthquake on the Nepali people. I remember how much it took for families to begin rebuilding their lives. It takes more than just a home to rebuild after a disaster—it takes time, support, and a community that cares.

Children have lost family members, their access to education, and a sense of normalcy. The emotional and mental stress that families are dealing with is real. And with more flooding happening, the need for support continues.

I will be traveling to Nepal and bringing the money raised here to help families who have been affected and forced to relocate. I don't yet know exactly where the greatest needs will be when I arrive, but I want to be there, see the situation for myself, and help in whatever way I can.

I know this is not a lot compared to the scale of what is happening. But I also know that I don't want to sit and do nothing.

So I am asking for your help.

If you are able to donate, even a small amount, I would be incredibly grateful. And if you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser with others would mean just as much.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for caring about the people of Nepal. Your support, kindness, and generosity are deeply appreciated.

With love and gratitude,

Anjana Sousa
