Hello! My name is Disha, and I'm a 20-year old college student majoring in computer science. I fled an abusive household in 2017, lack a non-university address after this, and face difficulty staying in school.
I have not provided more personally identifying information because of the first part of this situation. I know this affects my credibility, so feel free to contact me for verification.
The good: I'm attending as an independent with federal scholarships and I am about halfway to a bachelor's degree.
The bad: I have no parental support, am legally homeless which leaves me without a permanent address, and college costs put me at risk of dropping out / are causing housing insecurity, which is why I'm asking for help.
The context: I fell extremely ill at the start of Fall semester, missed a payment deadline, and was dropped from classes. After contacting my advisor and department heads, I couldn't re-enter. This left me with housing and other college costs without the financial aid to pay for them. I can't use aid or a payment plan to take classes if this remains by the 12th day of January.

Seeking medical help took a long time, as COVID-19 and being uninsured were obstacles, along with no energy to get up in the morning, feed myself on my own, or even talk to others. The diagnoses ended up being severe depression and cervical lymphadenopathy (basically, immune inflammation in the neck & throat) with no clear origin. Both resisted treatment, and make daily life difficult.
Nearly losing someone to coronavirus this year led me towards certification as a COVID-19 contact tracer, but I haven't been able to find employment as of writing this. I'm still applying to any job I can find, even if not in the best health to perform one.
Other students might take out more loans, or pay upfront. I lack credit, money, and the most basic requirement-- a permanent address. Other students might have parents who can co-sign. I don't. With this chronic instability, I have to face that dropping out or not having a place to stay are always possibilities.
If you finished reading, thank you for listening to me. This definitely isn't the first time you've seen someone ask for help online. COVID-19 has given most people trouble keeping themselves afloat, let alone throwing someone else a lifejacket. I'd appreciate if you circulated my page in any way possible, whether on social media, or just showing it to another person.
