Help Disco Fight Kidney Disease
Donation protected
Two days ago, Disco suddenly became lethargic and refused to eat or drink. We rushed her to a local vet, where she was determined to have a fever of 106°F and showed severe abdominal discomfort. X-rays showed that one of her kidneys was completely shriveled. Blood tests revealed a dangerously high white blood cell count, indicating an infection, and urinalysis showed stage 4 kidney disease with extremely high creatinine and BUN levels.
Disco initially received subcutaneous fluids, pain medication, antibiotics, anti-nausea medication, and an appetite supplement, but her condition didnt improve. She is now hospitalized and on IV fluids, with ICU care recommended to aid her recovery. The cost of ICU care exceeds $1,000 per day, and since Disco has preexisting conditions, she does not qualify for pet insurance. All expenses are coming out of our savings.
I adopted Disco from the humane society I was working at four years ago where I fell in love with her clinginess and adorable personality. Before her illness, Disco was the happiest, sweetest, and most social cat, always greeting visitors and bringing joy into the lives of everyone she met. She enjoyed being held, perching on your shoulder, sleeping in bed on our pillows with us, looking at birds out the window, or playing with laser pointers. Now, she spends her time lying on the floor, no longer seeking the interaction she once loved.
It’s heartbreaking to see her so unwell. Disco means the world to us, and we want to give her every chance to recover. Any assistance during this difficult time would be deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping us support Disco's road to recovery
