Hi! My name is Carly Webster. Those that know me know that I am a HUGE fan of the band 5 Seconds of Summer. I am also passionate about disability advocacy. And 5 years ago, I had the opportunity to merge those two things.

In 2018, I created DisabledSOS (pronounced disabled-sauce, taken after the band's abbreviation of 5SOS). We're an organization run by fans, for fans, intending to advance accessibility and disabled representation within live music.

There are a lot of barriers that disabled fans experience when trying to access their favorite music and concerts, including obstructed views, issues buying accessible tickets, and being unable to get into the venue at all. These issues can leave them feeling isolated and detached from fanbases. The goal is to help them feel validated in the ways that they support their favorite artists.

Throughout the past five years, we've organized initiatives both on the ground and remotely. However, we're facing many challenges, including being ineligible for funding due to a lack of a 501(c)3 status. These challenges are keeping us from potentially making an even bigger impact. Our philosophy has always been this: the more people who become aware of our work, the more people we can be a resource for.
