My good friend Michele Schurle and her 17 year old son Dylan are facing a very difficult situation in California.  I met Michele when her son and mine became best friends in elementary school many years ago.   She is a wonderful Christian woman and mother.  Her son and mine are still close friends.  

Michele's husband died of cancer a few years ago.  She and her son were doing ok with her job as a school teacher, but this summer she ended up in the hospital unable to breathe. 

It turned out that she had a cancerous tumor in her throat.  She had to have her vocal chords removed in order to get all the cancer out. This is her second fight with cancer.   Her body has rejected an attempt to install a prosthesis voice box.  It is unknown whether a second attempt will be successful.  She cannot return to work without a voice. It is unclear if she could find work as a school teacher with a prosthetic voice box, even if a future surgery should be successful.

God tells us to help the widow and the orphan. And He tells us in Galatians 6:10, "So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.  "

We have that opportunity now.  I would like to raise money to help Michele with her living and medical expenses so that she and her son can live off the disability income she will receive.
