Help Disabled Veteran - Central Pontine Mylenosis

Hello, my name is Matt Hutcherson and I am organizing this fund raiser to help my friend Robert Bryan Allison. Robert served in the United States Army for 12 Years, including time in the distinguished 1/3 US INF the “Old Guard”, the national Honor Guard and Escort to the President where he was deployed to the Horn of Africa in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In May, Robert became extremely sick and dehydrated. After 5 days of severe illness an ambulance was called. Robert was able to walk to the ambulance and was taken to the ER. After some testing he was transferred to Winchester hospital. A battery of tests including a CT scan and a MRI were performed. Eventually Robert was transferred to the VA Hospital. While at the VA Robert developed Encephalopathy and Hypernatremia. The VA the. Treated him and seemingly overcorrected. This treatment then resulted in Ataxia, Dysarthria, Dysphagia, and Central Pontine Mylenosis. The latter causing Robert to be permanently confined to a wheel chair. Through no fault of his own, Robert must now face life in a wheel chair. This will include refurbishing his home to accommodate. We are trying to help Robert purchase a motorized wheelchair and refit his bathroom. These are necessary but expensive changes to his life.
