Yesterday, September 9th, my parents lost the home they’ve lived in and loved for the past 18 years — a place we all thought would be their forever home. A fire started on one end of the house, and within minutes everything they had built and cherished was gone. Their lives have been turned completely upside down.

They lost everything.

My father proudly served 20 years in the Army with the 82nd Airborne and retired as a Sergeant First Class. He is now 100% service-related disabled. My mother battles Lupus and other health issues that prevent her from working. Despite their own challenges, they have always been the type of people who put others first and worked tirelessly to take care of their family.

As their daughter, it breaks my heart to see them facing this. We have never been a family to ask for help — we’ve always found a way to figure things out together. But right now, I have no choice but to ask on their behalf.
