Hey all, we're a house full of disabled queer folk who are unable to work as a result of our disabilities and only one has a regular income (SSI). We're applying to the benefits we qualify for to help with living expenses but that doesn't cover nearly enough.
Our household is made up of 3 white trans folk, 1 trans POC, and 1 queer cis woman. Most of the house has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome which is a rare genetic disorder that is incredibly painful and results in many disorders with multiple body systems. River is in the process of applying for disability and Salem is starting to but that could take years for both to be approved.
First, we need to pay property taxes to maintain housing which is $3,000 and due on November 4th. The extra $2,000 is to pay a chunk of our bills for the next couple of months. That number is likely to go up as heating oil is raising in price and that is the main heating mode in Maine.
