Trans & Disabled Roomies Direct Action Fund
Donation protected
My roommate and I are chosen family, we have no biological family that can help us. We are both queer and trans, and I'm Autistic, Disabled & Chronically ill. We have another roommate, Tim, who got laid off in April and has been unable to find work.
Since the start of the pandemic, my roommate has been supporting all three of us on her income alone. The other two of us either can't work, because I'm high risk, or can't find work in this economy. We were already struggling, but we were forced to move during the pandemic by our landlord. We were not evicted but they had already rented our unit out to someone else when our lease ended, so we had no choice but to move.
We cleaned the old apartment top to bottom but received nearly $400 in charges instead of getting our security deposit back. $5 dollars for removing a single cobweb? Charging us for the carpets which we paid to have professionally cleaned? It's been a real nightmare.

On top of that, in March I had a life threatening blood clot and I've been even sicker than I usually am since. Normally I get sick every month because of endometriosis, but I have discovered that I have Leiden Factor V, a blood clotting mutation that was triggered by my birth control, which ironically was supposed to help manage my endo.
Above is a picture of me in the hospital on March 24th, with a blood clot and also I burned my arm because I thought I had pulled a muscle so I used a heating pad, and I fell asleep. When I woke up my arm was still swollen like a balloon and I had blisters and a burn from the heating pad(oops).
My doctor made it clear to me at a recent post blood clot check up that I can't risk my life by returning to work. If I get Covid-19, I will probably get another blood clot and could end up having a stroke, or a pulmonary embolism, even though I'm only 29. My doctor told me that I'd very likely die if I got the virus, and because I'm autistic and have disabilities, if care rationing happens, I'm the among the first to not get a ventilator in favor of someone more likely to survive.
I have basically been indoors all year, and the only income I have had post Pandemic has been the single 1200 stimulus check.
This fundraiser is for groceries, my medication, our apartment moving fees, and general life expenses. We are struggling on my roommate's single work from home income, although as a high risk person, I'm still extremely grateful she can work from home at all.
It would mean the world to me if I help my roommate somehow as she is too worried about me getting sick to even entertain the idea of me going back to work in a normal job. This money would allow me to return the favor she's given me, of keeping us fed and roof over our heads during this whole disaster.
I feel especially bad that because of the pandemic she's had to put off transitioning procedures, like permanent hair removal and hormones, in order to help keep us afloat. I'd like to be able to help her get what she needs to be happy in her own skin. As of right now, she feels too dysphoric to let me upload a picture of her but I can upload a picture of my hospital bill.

I write for a Disability Rights Online Magazine but they don't pay, and I also have a YouTube Channel called Faye Fahrenheit where I talk about Disability Rights topics, like media representation, stereotypes, eugenics, the alt right, and general politics.
Right now I'm working on a a deep dive into ablest & racist policing. If I meet my fundraiser goal, I will personally thank my donors on my channel and the money will allow me to relax enough that I can focus on my Disability Rights work without having to worry about how we are going to afford food, or pay off what we owe the landlord, or pay for my medications.
I sincerely appreciate any help that we receive, and I know it's been a really hard year for many folks so if you can't afford to donate you can still help us by sharing this fundraiser, or supporting my Disability Rights work online.
Thank you!
