My name is Aaron, and I’m reaching out because my wife Lisa and I are facing a critical moment in our lives. I’ve been living with a disability for years, and recently my condition has worsened. I now need both knees and both hips replaced, and I require reverse reconstructive shoulder surgery on both shoulders. My back, from my tailbone to my neck, has herniated discs, bulging discs, and degenerative disc disease, which means I need multiple back surgeries as well as other medical care. I went from walking with a limp, to needing ace bandages and braces on both knees, and now I rely on a walker to get around. My back pain makes it impossible to stand for long periods, and I had to give up my part-time jobs, including driving a forklift, because I simply couldn’t keep up physically anymore.
Lisa is also disabled. She has endured three back surgeries, survived a cardiac arrest that left her in a medically induced coma for five days and resulted in brain damage, and just got out of the hospital a month ago after her third stroke. She faces multiple other medical issues and is unable to work. I am 54, and Lisa turns 60 next week. I am doing my best to care for both of us and our Chow Chow, Warrior, but everyday tasks have become a challenge. What used to be a short walk now takes me nearly an hour, but I do my best to keep going for all of us.
We’ve reached out to local organizations and food banks, and I’m working with the Department of Rehabilitation to hopefully find another part-time job soon. Unfortunately, most resources have limits, and we’re close to exhausting all available help. Our family and friends aren’t able to support us further, and we’re now just days away from losing our utilities and possibly our housing. I also want to share that I celebrated 10 years of sobriety on July 22, 2025, and I’m still sober today. I’m proud of this milestone and hope it shows my commitment to overcoming challenges. We’re asking for help to cover our housing, utilities, and medical expenses so we can keep a roof over our heads and continue caring for Warrior. Any support will make a real difference in helping us get through this urgent time and work toward stability again.
