Hello, my name is Faith Johnson. I am a nineteen-year-old college student in my final year of pursuing a bachelor’s degree in literature at Stockton University in New Jersey. My dream and goal after college is to become a full-time writer.

I have been writing stories since I was in elementary school. I decided to focus on a full-time writing career after a realization I had my junior year of high school. My favorite genres to read and write are fantasy, science fiction, romance and dystopian. I primarily am interested in writing middle-grade and young adult fiction.

My current work-in-progress at the moment is Perception, book one of my young adult fantasy series, The Perception Saga. The book follows the story of a high school student who discovers she has a dangerous magical power. The book delves into complex topics of adolescent life such as chronic illness, bullying, friendship, and high school romance. The full book sits at around 82,000 words.

To get this book sent off to a publisher, it needs to be thoroughly critiqued and modified by someone who knows the market well. I have chosen to work with a very high-profile editor. She has helped edit several bestselling children’s and young adult books, including The Hunger Games. However, her quote is approximately $4,100. She is willing to split this cost into three monthly payments, but even with that, it will be impossible to come up with this money before the first payment date.

I was born with cerebral palsy. The disease leaves me wheelchair-bound and affects the dexterity of my hands. I cannot drive, making it impossible to pursue a full-time job to cover the editing costs necessary for the success of the series. Currently, the only real income I receive is $600 from the government. This money goes to the remainder of my bill that is not covered by student loans or financial aid. I will need your help to pay the three installments the editor requires to finish the project.
