Dion Cristy was born on May 26, 1993. He was the sweetest baby. While Dion had his struggles in school, he never gave up on his goals to be successful. No one could deny this young man had a genuine love for life. Dion was back in school and getting his life on track at the time of his death. On the day of his death, he went in to tell his mom that he was leaving, kissed her and told her that he loved her and that he would be back and then he went with a friend to drop off his girlfriend at work. In route, his friend’s car struck a disabled vehicle then was struck by an F250. Dion leaves behind his mother Dionna, father James (Jay), sister Ashley (20), brother Jayden, grandmothers Pam and Viola, his Great-grandmothers Earline and Willie Ann and a host of aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
My name is Myesha Mebane and I am Dion’s cousin (his mom Dionna is my first cousin). I volunteered to script a “GoFundMe” to help with the family’s expenses. My goal is to raise money to help the family with funeral expenses.
Dionna has not been able to go to work since learning of her son's death and she does not have the kind of job that can afford her paid family leave or paid bereavement.
While the family is helping as much possible, Dionna and Jay (his dad) need some help with the expenses related to such an unexpected loss.
All money raised from this campaign will go towards funeral and burial expenses for Dion and living expenses for his mother and younger sister.
