Dear Friends and Supporters,
I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request on behalf of my sister, Dione, and her husband, Eddie. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, their lives were turned upside down when a massive storm surge flooded their home, destroying everything they owned. As renters without insurance, they were left with no choice but to discard nearly all of their belongings—items that held both practical and sentimental value. This was their first and only home since they married over ten years ago, and for Dione, it had been her residence for nearly 10 years before she married Eddie. In nearly 20 years of living there, this home had never flooded. Sadly, they will not be able to return to live there. Dione and Eddie are now hoping to find a new place to call home by November 30, 2024, and are in need of furniture and basic household supplies.
Currently, they are temporarily living with our father, an hour away from their jobs, which has added the burden of extra travel expenses.
Dione, a dedicated nurse who always puts her patients first, is finding it difficult to accept help. She has spent her life caring for others, and asking for assistance is something she’s not accustomed to. Thank you for allowing me to step in and ask for help on her behalf.
Now, they need a helping hand to begin rebuilding their lives. Any donation—no matter how small—will go directly toward helping them recover from this devastating loss. Whether it’s $5 or whatever you choose, please know that your support will provide them with basic necessities, help cover travel expenses, and offer hope during this difficult time.
In a bittersweet return of favor, Dione—being the compassionate giver that she is—organized a GoFundMe campaign for my family after the Camp Fire in Paradise, CA, in 2018. The outpouring of love and compassion sustained us and helped my family through the worst time of our lives. Now, we hope for the same kindness to be extended to Dione and Eddie.
