For my birthday this year, my sister Stacey and I wish to support our dear friend Diny Peterson, who lost her home to a devastating wildfire in northern California.
In July 2024, Diny’s home in the town of Cohasset, near Chico, California, was completely incinerated by the fast-moving Park fire, started by an arsonist. Thank goodness she got out in time, but she lost everything. She was not able to get insurance for her home so there is no money to rebuild.
She has been staying with different friends in Chico for the past several months and is very grateful for all the support she has received. But Diny longs to get back to the land she so loves. I am starting this funding effort to help her buy a mobile home for her property and repair her driveway and bridge so that she once again has access.
Diny and I met at the University of California in Santa Barbara over 40 years ago, and we have been the closest of friends ever since. For over thirty years Diny has lived by herself in a 2 bedroom hunter’s cottage, caring for and cherishing the land and abundant nature that surrounded her.
This gofundme will help Diny buy a small mobile home/trailer. The mobile home is small enough that she can negotiate the roads to get to her property, but still large enough to live in full time. A liveable used trailer must be less than 10 years old and would likely cost $25,000. Repairing her road and bridge will be approximately $10,000. Please help by donating what you can to help my good friend have a home again.
Thank you.
