This is an effort to raise funds for our friend and colleague, Dinesh Hariraju, to help him heal and recover from the horrific and life-altering tragedy that befell him on the dreadful night of February 17, 2019. Dinesh was an innocent victim of a daring shooting at his own apartment in the middle of Medical center area of San Antonio, TX, by criminal and desperate gunmen, who opened fire, spraying 11 bullets in matter of seconds, nearly killing him and his expecting wife, Sujitha.

According to preliminary police and media reports,  and Dinesh's account, Dinesh had an acquaintance over for dinner at his apartment on the night of Feb 17. Around 11:30 pm, that person left Dinesh's apartment but returned with a few minutes in a rush. The apartment door was open and that person entered and locked the door behind him. Within seconds, 11 shots were fired through the closed apartment door, striking that person on the head. Dinesh was hit by three bullets on his face as he was still trying realize what was going on. As his acquaintance collapsed, and shots were being still fired, Dinesh alerted his pregnant wife Sujitha, who was in the adjacent room to take cover and lock the bedroom's door. Shaken by what had just happened, Dinesh called the Police as well as his friends and colleagues informing them that he was shot. SAPD responded within minutes of the incident.

It is still unclear what led to the shooting and who the perpetrators were. San Antonio Police Department investigation is ongoing and the gunmen remain at large. What is suspected is that there may been an argument and altercation between that person who was visiting Dinesh and the gunmen over parking spot. The person who was visiting Dinesh and was shot in his head, is unable to communicate and remains in a coma.

We have all known Dinesh over several years as a soft spoken, helpful and amiable person, both as a colleague and as a friend. He is well-regarded at his workplace as a sincere and hardworking employee and was recently promoted. He is on a visa in the US and had his wife join him in 2018. They also recently found out they are going to be parents.

Dinesh had two bullets wounds, one entering his nose from the right and exiting through his left jaw, the second entering his right jaw and exiting through his left jaw as well. Both these shattered his jaws, as they exited his left cheek. The third bullet grazed his right eyebrows. His left eye was also damaged during the ordeal.  He will need reconstructive surgeries in the course of next few weeks and possibly extensive hospital stay. He will not be able to return to his

Dinesh and Sujitha will need all the support they can, in their long road to physical and emotional recovery from this shocking and horrific experience. We are urging you to support them, in whatever capacity you can, in their difficult times.
