Dinah Herrmann has been a beloved part of her community for decades. Through Fiesta Hut, she created a place where people gathered for celebrations, family meals, and everyday life. For many in North Jersey and beyond, Dinah is not just a local business owner and a great cook. She is someone people turned to, someone who made others feel cared for, and someone whose kindness and generosity left a lasting mark on so many lives. Over the years, she became like family to people far beyond her immediate circle, including longtime employees who stayed with her for years because of the person she is. I know this personally. When I desperately needed work and had no experience, Dinah gave me a job and helped me at a time when I truly needed it. That kind of generosity is simply who she is.
Now Dinah needs help.
Dinah recently suffered a stroke and has a long recovery ahead. She worked right up until the night before this happened, still trying to keep everything going. Her restaurant is now closed indefinitely, and her family is facing an overwhelming crisis on multiple fronts.
The most urgent issue is Dinah’s home, which requires major repairs before it is safe and accessible for her recovery. Like many people who pour everything into running a small business, Dinah prioritized keeping Fiesta Hut going, often at the expense of her own home and well-being. The house now needs extensive work, including structural repairs, updated heat and hot water systems, roof and ceiling repair, and accessibility modifications such as a ramp. These are not cosmetic fixes. They are necessary to make the home safe, stable, and livable for Dinah’s return.
With the business closed and so much uncertainty ahead, the family’s focus right now is making sure Dinah has a safe, warm, and accessible place to come home to. There is also uncertainty around ongoing medical and recovery-related costs, which adds even more pressure to an already overwhelming situation.
Donations will help cover immediate home repairs and stabilization, roofing, flooring, mold remediation, insulation, updated heating and hot water systems, windows, accessibility needs including a ramp, urgent household bills, and other costs as the family navigates what comes next.
If you know Dinah through Fiesta Hut, through family, through friendship, or through the kindness she has shown over the years, please consider donating. Any amount will make a real difference. And if you are not able to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean a great deal.
Thank you for supporting Dinah, Marissa, and Nolan during this incredibly difficult time.
