Help Digna Rebuild Her Life After Tragic Accident
Donation protected
My name is Andriete. My mom is the leader of the Costa Rican community in Las Vegas. We created a Facebook page, Asociación Costarricense en Nevada, to be able to communicate and unite the Costa Rican community in the city.
Two days ago, she received a message from a gentleman in Costa Rica who contacted us through the page. He let us know that his sister-in-law and her partner had been hit by a car while walking on the Las Vegas Strip. His sister-in-law was released from the hospital with minor injuries, but her partner, Digna Laguna Orozco, had her leg amputated and will remain in the hospital for at least 2 more weeks.
They are staying at an Airbnb, but they have no family here, and because this was a hit and run, we are waiting for the police investigation to give more details about the individual who was involved in this accident. Digna is a nurse back home in Costa Rica, but now with this situation, it is not very likely that she will be returning to work anytime soon. So, she will have a financial burden for a while until she is able to get back to normal, which in her situation will be months or years of physical therapy and learning to live without one of her legs. Anything helps and is appreciated.
