On a regular morning, Diego left home to go to work, just like he always did.

Diego is a hardworking father, husband, and provider who has lived in the United States since 2015. He works in remodeling and has spent years doing everything he could to support his family, pay rent and bills, provide food for his children, and even send money back home to help his parents.

Family has always been at the center of Diego’s life.

Even after long days of work, he always made time for his wife and daughters, taking them to parks, church, family outings, shopping together, and playing hide and seek at home. Those who know him describe him as responsible, kind, hardworking, and deeply devoted to his family.

Recently, Diego was detained in Virginia and is currently being held in a Detention Center.

His detention has left his family in an incredibly painful and uncertain situation.

His wife is now trying to navigate this nightmare while caring for their two young daughters, ages 7 and 2. Right now, the girls still do not fully understand what has happened to their father.

One of the hardest moments has been trying to answer the simple question every child asks:

“Where is my dad? When is he coming home from work?”

Diego was the main provider for the household, and his family is now struggling to cover monthly rent, utilities, food, basic household needs, a car payment, and the growing costs of legal representation.

The family is urgently trying to raise funds for legal support and related expenses. They have been informed that attorney fees may total around $7,500 as they fight to keep Diego with his family and explore every legal option available to them.

This family never imagined they would be in this position.

As Diego’s wife shared:

“I would hear and see stories like this on social media, but I never expected it would happen to me.”
