Diego is turning 17 in May. Up until last Thursday, he has had some health issues, but they were stable and he was doing so great. Friday morning on 4/18, I woke up to him not moving much and completely blind. We took him to ISU and he had severe inflammation in his eyes causing glaucoma. They said it's either trauma or cancer. We took X-rays and no signs of cancer, but it's still possible that it's somewhere like his head. They put him on 5 medications, which meant he was now on 6 with his preexisting medication. Monday, I noticed he wasn't pooping, so we started SQ fluids and Tuesday started enemas and meds. Then started 2 more meds, making a total of 8 meds plus SQ fluids. He still can't see and started to get wobbly and is unfortunately not pooping still, only one time in 1 week. Thursday, we tested bloodwork and he has low potassium, which could be contributing to the wobbliness. We had a recheck with ISU and he is getting transferred to internal med for consult. Plus, he needs injections for his eyes. He has pet insurance that is covering part but not all of the costs. We've had to spend a lot of money also trying to accommodate for his new needs.
I am worried about being able to keep up with his care between everything happening. They are talking about hospitalizing him. I want to do everything possible to help him be comfortable. If you are able to donate anything, our family would greatly appreciate it. He has been with me through everything and has the most kind spirit I've ever seen in an animal.
If wanting to directly donate instead, you can donate to my venmo:

update: they decided not to hospitalized him for now, which was such great news but we have to try and get him to a better spot and hope he doesn't go downhill. they think his kidney disease is having a flare up right now. there is a possibility that he has retinal detachment, but they still can't fully see in his eyes until we do eye injections to help with the fibrin from inflammation.
