I met Diego in 2017 while on my first volunteer trip to Guatemala. He was the guide and interpreter for Vivid Roits, the group I was with that year. We became friends and even though I wasn’t on another trip with him, we remained friends and meet up every time I travel to Guatemala. Diego is a kind and determined person, and his family has always been at the heart of his life.

Recently, Diego lost his beloved mother, a woman who showed incredible strength and love throughout her life. She battled Lupus from a young age and raised five wonderful children in Antigua Guatemala, a place filled with family history and tradition. Despite her illness, she gave her children the gift of resilience and hope. Her passing has left Diego and his siblings facing not only emotional loss but also the financial burden of funeral, burial, and hospital expenses.

Diego and his family need help to pay off the money owed for his mom's hospitalization and mausoleum.
