Help Diego Battle Leukemia

Donation protected
When tragedy strikes our neighbors, we consider our support to be the least we can do to help. 24-year-old Diego Sanchez, the son of a longtime Grangetto's employee, is fighting an intense battle with leukemia. Our goal is to do all we can to support his family during this time.

It started several months ago when Diego found a lump on the side of his neck. After numerous visits to his physician and the ER, he was finally given a referral to get a PET scan and see an oncologist. By this time, he had difficulty breathing and complained of double vision. Diego was referred to UCSD La Jolla Hospital, where, after having a quart of liquid drained from his lungs, numerous biopsies, blood work, and many tests, he was diagnosed with leukemia.

Diego started a very intensive treatment, undergoing chemotherapy every 12 hours to fight the cancer from his neck to his toes. He then began another round of chemo to attack the tumors in his brain via his spinal cord. After 5 weeks of treatments, he was released from the hospital but must continue this double dose of chemotherapy twice a week.

Diego will be out of work for at least 6 months. He is now at home with his parents, but payments for his car, insurance, and student loans are stacking up—not to mention massive medical bills.

By sharing Diego's story, we seek to help alleviate his family of the financial strain brought on by this tragedy. Please consider donating and joining us as we rally to support Diego and his family.
