Hey! I'm one of Dick's close friends. Here are some words from Dick concerning his current life and reason for this GoFundMe:

"Hey, it's Dick. You might have noticed that I have slowed down in the recent years when it comes to my art output. A great deal of that is due to my carpal tunnel and other not-so-ideal lifestyle choices. There have been several times I've sworn I would change, but anytime I have tried to improve these issues, I feel like I have gone two steps back. My tailbone has been the reason for my distress these last couple of years. To not bore/gross you out with the details, I have a pilonidal cyst that refuses to go away. Anytime I've treated it with antibiotics it would come back. I think I've had a flare up almost every year since 2019. As you can imagine, this has caused me a great deal of emotional and physical pain. There's not a day that goes by where I am not worried about it coming back and flaring up. I can't even seem to do simple movements without being anxious if I am doing something wrong. At times, it is even difficult for me to sit, lay down, and be in a position that is optimal for making art. Why did I keep this from everyone for so long? Well...all of this has been a very humilating issue for me, but I am so tired of suffering in silence that I need to do something about it. In this stressful time, I have been heavily researching how to fix my condition.

I was dreading this outcome but unfortunately the only solution is out of state surgery; it is not cheap. I am hoping this GoFundMe that my friend has made for me can hopefully aid my travel expenses. I am planning to do a payment plan and am going to see if my health insurance can cover any of the procedure. Any amount you can donate would mean alot to me. I would like to put this painful chapter in my life behind me so I can go back to enjoying the simple things in life like sitting down and laying on my back. I can go back to creating more art for ya'll. I have so many things I still want to create and I feel like this disease has robbed me of my creativity and my health.
