Dianne is one of the kindest souls you will ever meet. She's humble, sweet, encouraging, and servant-hearted. She also happens to have M.S. Somedays it really slows her down, but most days, you'll find her out and about in her retirement community, working with the staff, volunteering her time, and loving on the residents by delivering about 400 birthday cards a year.
She depends on her motorized wheelchair to make all these things happen but she also depends on it to get her to the store, the Post Office, the doctor's office, and to the vet for her beloved cat, Angel. This is because her M.S. makes walking excruciatingly painful, and truly near impossible.
This month she was told by the team that services her chair that the repairs would exceed the cost of buying a "new to her" second-hand motorized wheelchair. The repair bill is around $2200. While the cost of a new chair is about $8000, Dianne is confident she can find a gently used one for around $2000. She's on a very tight fixed income, so it seems like an insurmountable amount to her. She asked me to pray today that God would help her meet her needs. I think we can do more for her than that.
As for many of our seniors, the pandemic has meant serious amounts of social isolation for her, and her chair has at least permitted her the ability to get out for a "walk" each day. She was told by the repairman not to go anywhere in her chair now because it will break down and leave her stranded. The thought of being trapped in her apartment is more than she can stand. The sooner we raise these funds for her the sooner she will be set free to continue to love the people in her community, restore her sense of independence, and meet her own daily needs.
Thank you so much for your selfless donation to help Dianne get a new set of wheels and recover her mobility.
