Help Dianna Rebuild After Hurricane Milton
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Dianna. Hurricane Milton came through my town of Sarasota, Florida just a few days ago. I don't have to tell you how badly this storm impacted the lives of all of us here, it's News everyday with ongoing stories of tragedy and triumph. Milton finished what hurricane Helene started, leaving many of us in hopeless and helpless situations we could never have prepared for. Not all of us are well-off here on the Suncoast, I have always been a part of the hardworking, blue collar population living paycheck to paycheck. I have never asked for help before and hope I never have to again, but here I am, reaching out to anyone who is able to help me in this situation.
Three weeks before Milton struck, I had an accident where I fractured my spine in two places. I am 65 years old and have been trying to suppliment my monthly social security with the odd job and I fell during one of these jobs. Unfortunately there was no recourse for me, I could not claim workmans compensation or insurance for this accident and I was not offered any compensation for my injury. Just my dumb luck I guess and then while at home on my back for 3 weeks trying to heal from this painful and debilitating injury, exhausting the small amount of "rainy day" savings I had, Milton hit! My home sustained damage like so many others and I am now not only bedridden but financially destitute and unable to support myself. If I can make it through the next 8 weeks of healing I may be able to (hopefully!) return to finding parttime work in the event there are jobs to be had as businesses try to rebuild.
I have never asked for help before but I am now hanging on to the end of the rope and asking for any donation so that I may get the food, medicine and basic necessities I need to survive. I will be forever grateful. My pride has taken a severe hit but once I saw the reality of the situation, dignity got pushed aside in preference to the basic needs of life itself.
Due to my injuries and age, there's a chance I might never fully recoup from all the medical bills and damage from the hurricane but I have to try. The only failure is in not trying and in being too proud to ask for help when you need it. And here I am, asking you for help, if you can.
Unfortunately I cannot get help from FEMA. My home was not destroyed but my life as I knew it, was. What quality of time I have left on this Earth here in my "golden years" has significantly changed. My future is uncertain. All I want is to get better, get strong and stand on my own two feet again!
I am asking for donations to help for the following:
Hurricane Recovery (housing expenses so I don't become homeless)
Medical Bills (hospitalization, medicine, corrective procedures for my broken back)
Basic Necessities (Food, hygiene)
Cat food!
For those that do decide to donate, Bless you. Thank you. Let us all be kind to each other, no matter what you decide. We never know what tomorrow might bring. I wish you all Peace.
