This is a life-changing story, and it’s one we never imagined we’d be sharing.

My best friend, my sister from another mother, Dai has recently been diagnosed with multiple serious medical illnesses, some of which can be fatal if left untreated. Our hearts are broken, and so is our community, because Dai is the kind of person who is always showing up for everyone else.

Dai was just beginning her “second chapter” in life. She launched a nonprofit called The Collective Market because helping others isn’t something she does, it’s who she is.

Dai is also a single mom to her amazing 8-year-old daughter, Ella, who is her entire world. If you know Dai, you know she’s the kindest, most selfless person in the room, the one who will make you laugh until your abs hurt, then turn around and help someone without ever expecting anything back.

Why we’re raising funds

Dai urgently needs medical care and treatments that insurance will not cover. One critical part of her strengthening plan includes Vitamin C IV therapy, and each IV costs $559 out of pocket.

On top of the medical crisis, Dai was recently left in a devastating financial situation due to her previous employer not approving her FMLA and shortly thereafter, laying her off and still owes her back pay on PTO, Expenses, Commissions. She was sexually harassed, bullied, retaliated against, yet she stayed loyal and didn’t give up, 8 years and 7 months. This has made it even harder for her to stay stable, emotionally , physically and mentally.
