I have known Diana since she was a little girl. She is the sister of one of my tennis students and she used to come to our tennis club to pick her up with her parents. She even played a bit of tennis herself.
In August this year, she was taken to a hospital with a fever. Everyone thought it was an appendicitis attack, but in the hospital, she started getting cramps and fell unconscious, so doctors had to put her into a medically induced coma to save her life. Later they found that her brain was under a severe epilepsy attack and they had no idea how to stop it.
Her family transferred her to Israel, where doctors were successful at stopping the attack and brought her back to consciousness. She was diagnosed with Staust epilepsy caused by viral encephalitis.
Her brain is severely damaged, she can barely walk, and she experiences temporary vision and memory loss. With this diagnosis, Diana has to go through an intense recovery program. The first stage of this program costs 63,000 USD (GBP 50K). Her family has managed to collect half of the required amount, but need help with the remaining 30,000.
Diana is such a sweet girl and I really wish she gets back to her normal life very soon. I have sent them a bit of money, but there is not much I can do on my own. Let's get all together and help Diana to start her recovery program as soon as possible. I will be forever grateful!
